A: If you are interested in diagnosis; the only people who can do that that are in school for less time than doctorate level professions are the mid-level practitioners: physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Even medical research would require a PhD–8 ish years plus. The NO is reached through the RN to Masters nursing route; the PA through the bachelors in a pre-med, to a masters PA program (aapa.org).
